The 60th anniversary of Land Rover occurs in 2008. The original Series 1 Land Rover was unveiled in 1948 and the utilitarian Defender models are still instantly recognizable as relatives of the original. The Land Rover range has also expanded over the years to elevate the Solihull marque to a premium brand in the automotive market place, the latest Range Rover models providing palatial luxury while still providing unbeatable off-road performance.
This beautifully produced book tells the full story of all Land Rover models through a wealth of stunning color images, many previously unpublished.

2008 was the 60th anniversary of Land Rover. This Enlish mark is more than a brand, it represents a lifestyle for many. I include myself in this group and over the past 13 years have had several of their cars. Very few vehicles have the character and personality of a Land Rover, and like Harley Davidson the marque has a following that's very loyal. Most Land Rover owners name their cars, much like they would name a pet. A Land Rover is a member of the family, not a vehicle. And no negative remarks from JD Power or Consumer Reports will change that.
This books is the Biography of Land Rover, from its beginnings just after the WW II, up to early 2008, a bit before the company being acquired by TATA Motors from India. Great photography of all Land Rover models, several interesting stories telling how each model was conceived, and a lot of "war stories" surrounding some of hte cars. In a word it tells the origins of the mystique of the marque.
