How-To: Replace Shock Absorbers on a Land Rover

Need to replace the shock absorbers on your Land Rover?  A contributing writer from eHow tells you how to renew your shock absorbers in a general sense.  There are no pictures, and the article is kind of lame.  We will try to find a better guide for this that includes issues when working around the air suspension.  But in the mean time, we include it here, as it might be a little helpful.

Step 1

Loosen the lug nuts on the tire with the tire iron. Raise the front of the Land Rover with the jack and take off the tire. Place jack stands under the Land Rover at the support points and lower the Land Rover onto the stand. Do this to both sides of the front of the Land Rover. Raise the rear of the Land Rover with the jack and place jack stands under the Land Rover at the support points on both sides. Now the Land Rover is completely off of the ground, allowing you to get under the vehicle.
Step 2
Remove the nuts that connect the shock to the frame at the top of the shock with a wrench. Remove the nuts that are connecting the shock to the lower control arm and slide the shock out of its place. Remove the washer and bushing from the top mounting place and the lower control arms' nut.
